I’m Tim Cary, a full-service home improvement contractor serving Long Island’s North Fork and Shelter Island. With more than 38 years of multi-craft trade experience and the last decade focused on residential construction, I’m uniquely qualified to handle any project, small or large, with close attention to detail.
My first job, at seventeen, was as a laborer for my family’s dock-building business in Greenport. The work was demanding, but it taught me the value of hard work, craftsmanship, and attention to detail. Soon after, I enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, where I served honorably for six years and attained the rank of Sergeant.
After training as a truck mechanic in the military, I relocated to Boston following my enlistment and continued working in that field. I later transitioned into industrial machinery repair, working as an industrial mechanic and electrician across a range of industries throughout the Northeast.
In 2003, I moved back to Greenport and continued working in similar technical roles, including as a technician for a high-end window and door manufacturer on Long Island. In 2012, I took a part-time position with a local contractor. What began as a temporary opportunity soon became a new career path. The schedule allowed me to complete several college degrees, and I found that I genuinely enjoyed the work.
After years of working with established contractors and learning every aspect of residential construction and renovation, I founded Cary Home Improvement in 2022. The company was built on quality craftsmanship, reliability, and close attention to detail. Today, we proudly serve homeowners and businesses across the North Fork and Shelter Island.
